“We’ll have to pick Seth and Tara up, anyway.” Before Billie got away, Cat whispered in her ear, “I can’t wait to go home. I miss sleeping in your arms.”

“I miss you, too. And I love you with all my heart. I’m looking forward to making love to you. It’s been a long time.” Cat closed her eyes and nodded. “I know, but I think I’m ready.

At least I will be after I recover from childbirth.”

“You’ve been through hell and back over the last year. It’s understandable that you need time to heal psychologically. Thank you for agreeing to go to the counseling sessions. I think they’ve really helped.”

“I should be thanking you for being so patient with me.”

“I love you. You’re worth the wait.” Cat’s eyes filled with tears. “You’d better get out of here before you turn me into a blubbering idiot.” Billie looked to the children. “Hey you two, how about kisses for Mama and Skylar?”

Both the children bounded to the bed and kissed their mother and little sister then ran back to the door. Seth took Tara’s hand.

“Come on, Mom. We’re hungry.”

Tara, being Seth’s little echo, repeated, “Yeah, Mom, we’re hungry.”

Billie grinned and said to Tara, “If Skylar eats as much as you and your brother, we’re going to be in big trouble.” Cat laughed and swatted Billie on the arm. “Get out of here before they wither away.”
